Partner meeting in the Czech Republic

Project partners met for their F2F meeting in Olomouc, the Czech Republic from 7 – 8 May 2024. This was an oportunity for project partners to review project activites completed so far and to plan and prepare the next project activities.

Quiz cards were tested and tried as well. It was educational and entertaining. Quiz cards present one of the outputs of our project INTER-PUZZLE. Quiz cards can be used by educators as an icebreaker or as a class/lecture activity, at a team building event, for language learning, interesting reading activity or a group of friends or a family can play this game during a holiday. The possibilites are numerous.

This partner meeting was a great oportunity to learn more abou the adult education system in the Czech Republic so a visit to the University for the Third Age in Olomouc (presentation of programmes was organised where the participants could find out more about the activities for participants and their participation in formal and informal programmes of the university.

Project partners aso visited Národní pedagogický insitut České republiky, where they were greeted by the director of the institute and had an informative visit on the topic of adult education.

Olomouc is quite interesting historically so project partners had a chance to explore this city and learn about the local customs and traditions.

Partner meeting in Italy

A F2F partner meeting was held in Lecce, Italy from 12 to 13 October 2023. EduVita, a lifelong learning center from Lecce is our proejct partner and they hosted this meeting. We discussed project management activites as well as further steps in implementation of our project activities.

We also had the oportunity to experience Lecce and learn about the culture and history of this region of Italy.

An intergenerational activity was conducted in the form of an educational walking tour in Lecce. All members of partner meeting took part as well as participants of EduVita who were our guides. We were able to learn about the history and culture of Lecce from senior participants and they had an opportunity to practice their English. Also, there were some quiz questions, the participants needed to answer about the sights we visited. It was a very good activity and good practice that can be transferred to our organisations.

Important tradition and part of cultural heritage of Salento is also ceramics art. The workshop was held by a young local craftsman who learned his art from his ancestors and strives to carry on the knowledge and skills. We were reminded of the importance of making, producing with our hands as well as reconnecting with our roots and learning to transfer the knowledge from older generations on to the younger ones.

At the Ecomuseo della Pietra Leccesse, which was created to valorise the natural, social, and artistic identity of the local area characterized by the quarries of Pietra Lecces, we learned about the local cultural heritage project for seniors “VIVA! Tante belle cose” . The project was created as a response to a personal experience of registering how seniors who have lost their partners live in solitude and have difficulty integrating into society or participating in activities in their local communities. We could see parts of the documentary that was created in this project with the intention of recording day-to-day activities of local residents. The idea of the project was very similar to the idea behind INTER-PUZZLE.

Kick-off meeting

The world changes swiftly nowadays, so adapting to the new ways of living, communicating and learning can be quite challenging for adults. Despite all the challenges and novelties that we encounter, we can learn a lot if we look back on who we are and where we come from. We believe that we can be successful if we are able to mix our previous experiences with new knowledge. For that reason, School Center Slovenske Konjice-Zreče, SIC – adult education and counselling, coordinates an Erasmus+ project Solving the intergenerational puzzle INTER-PUZZLE. The project is EU funded.

In April 2023, we hosted our project partners from the Czech Republic, Portugal and Italy in Slovenske Konjice and Zreče. We organised a kick-off meeting in order to prepare for the project implementation. Our project partners had the opportunity to learn about adult education activities at SIC – adult education and the activities of secondary vocational school in Zreče, primary school in Zreče and a care home in Slovenske Konjice. We visited the Žiče Carthusian monastery and a wine estate Zlati grič where our project partners could experience a part of our cultural and natural heritage.

A good basis for our future project activities was set at the kick-off meeting, the first activity being collecting the stories of adults aged 55+. Those stories will be a basis for developing tools to be used to improve and promote intergenerational learning activities for adults. Intergenerational workshops for adults aged 18 to 55+ will be organised where participants will be able to meet, communicate and develop their skills. Project activities will contribute to the activation of adults to participate in intergenerational learning activities. It will promote the importance of life-long learning as well as the benefits of becoming or remaining active regardless of one’s age. Tools will be developed for use by individuals, teachers, adult educators and wider public to promote intergenerational learning. This project will strengthen cooperation of relevant organisations at the local, national and transnational level. The project is funded by the European Union.
